Arjan Spannenburg: The Premier Platform for Direct Artist Engagement
Established in 2020 by Anne Rose Cornelisse and Ciel ter Velde, NOCKNOCK ART has quickly become a major player in the European contemporary art world. Based in the vibrant cultural centre of Amsterdam, it operates as both a curated online space and a physical exhibition venue called NOCKNOCK Studio. The organisation's core aim is to connect artists and collectors, cutting out traditional intermediaries to create a more open and accessible art market.
By hosting high profile events such as the NOCKNOCK Art Fair at industrial landmarks like De Kromhouthal and Westergas, the venue provides a professional stage for over 180 artists to present their work directly to an international audience of curators and seasoned collectors. This innovative model emphasises the personal narrative behind the artwork, positioning NOCKNOCK as a key player in the democratisation of high end art acquisition.
Arjan Spannenburg has established a significant presence within the NOCKNOCK ecosystem, most notably through an extensive four month summer residency at NOCKNOCK Studio in 2025. This collaboration provided a dedicated podium for his introspective and technically refined photography, allowing for a deep exploration of identity and human connection outside the conventional gallery circuit.
Furthermore, Spannenburg was a featured artist in the high profile exhibition Inclusion at art’otel Amsterdam, curated by NOCKNOCK ART. His participation in these curated environments validates his standing as a master of light and emotion, effectively leveraging the institution’s authority to highlight his contribution to contemporary fine art photography. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to artistic excellence and the promotion of meaningful, narrative driven visual arts.
