Voor Jillis: LGBTQIA Emancipatie en Hedendaagse Kunst

The exhibition Voor Jillis was organised by the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam in collaboration with local initiatives to mark the five year anniversary of the Jillis Bruggeman Penning. During the opening of this specific exhibition on March 11, 2019, the annual Jillis Bruggeman Penning was awarded to Boris Dittrich. Dittrich is a prominent human rights activist and former politician who was one of the primary driving forces behind the legalization of same sex marriage in the Netherlands in 2001. The curatorial framework of the exhibition operated under the theme that everyone is different, using high level institutional curation to explore sexual diversity and gender identity.
